WASECA — The end of the 2010 Minnesota Legislative session came down to “a six minute, $3 billion fix,” according to State Sen. Mike Parry, R-Waseca.
“It was a temporary fix but the budget was balanced,” Parry told the Waseca City Council Tuesday. However, he said, a $6 billion deficit in the upcoming biennium will be waiting for the next governor and the next legislature.
Parry said some good things were accomplished in the session but he learned that “things move very slowly” in the two legislative houses; that legislators react to letters from their constituents more than to e-mails; and that he found his greatest satisfaction in committee work where members were less partisan and worked together.
