The citizen’s of District 26 need someone who understands how to make the tough decisions to balance a budget and close a check book when there are no extra funds available. Our businesses are the life blood of this State and Nation. We need to do what it takes to keep them prosperous and employing our citizens at a good wage. It’s hard to do that when you’re the third highest-taxed state in business and corporate taxes! That’s one of the reasons you’re seeing Minnesota businesses moving to other cities and overseas. This needs to be stopped! We need to get back the companies and jobs we’ve lost over the last 10 years and keep the companies and jobs we currently have. We need a favorable business climate in this State!
Two things go hand in hand, Jobs and Education. Without jobs, there won’t be great education and without education, there are no places for Minnesotans to have good paying jobs. That’s why education will be another strong focus for Mike Parry when elected.
We no longer have a choice but to live within our means and Government should be no different. You can’t spend more than you take in, period! Our government needs to understand that before it starts a new program, or decides on a mandate, it needs to know if it can be funded and sustainable. You just can’t shove it down the citizen’s throat!
It’s time for a ‘Get ‘em back’ campaign. Let’s get manufacturing back to our State. Let’s get jobs back to our State. Let’s ‘Get ‘em (the legislature) back’ to a balanced common sense budget. Time to put an end to an “open check book mentality.”

OWATONNA, Minn. - Republican candidate Mike Parry has won the special election in southern Minnesota for a seat his party has long controlled.With about 85 percent of the unofficial vote counted, Parry had about 43 percent of the vote to Democrat Jason Engbrecht's nearly 35 percent. Independent Roy Srp trailed with about 22 percent.Tuesday's special election fills the remaining 11 months of Dick Day's term for a seat covering the cities of Waseca, Faribault and
Owatonna. Day left the Senate this month to become a lobbyist for racetrack gambling interests. He
held the seat for 19 years. Democrats entered the election with a 46-20 majority in the Senate.

Faribault- At tonight’s Senate District 26 Convention, Republicans endorsed Waseca businessman Mike Parry to replace retiring state Senator Dick Day, (R-Owatonna) for the special election to be held on Jan. 26, 2010. Parry was endorsed by acclamation following the conclusion of the third ballot.
“With tonight’s endorsement from our great grassroots activists in Senate District 26, Mike Parry has the full support of the Republican Party of Minnesota. We will ensure he has the resources to win this special election. Mike will be a champion for the creation of more sustainable, private-sector jobs,” said Republican Party of Minnesota Chairman Tony Sutton.
“Mike Parry’s agenda of lower taxes, economic opportunity and sensible and limited government is the right prescription during these times of economic anxiety. Mike will be a great advocate for the small businesses of Senate District 26,” Republican Party of Minnesota Deputy Chairman Michael Brodkorb added.
